Possessive adjectives can come before a noun or a noun phrase to express possession e.g. My office is on the first floor. Besitzanzeigende Adjektive stehen vor einem Nomen oder einer Nominalphrase und zeigen den Besitz an, z.B. My office is on the first floor. (“Mein Büro ist im ersten Stock”.)
my – mein(e) your – dein(e) / Ihr(e) (singular) his – sein(e) her – ihr(e) its – sein(e our – unser(e) your – ihr(e) / Ihr(e) (plural) their – ihr(e)
Reflexive Pronouns (Reflexivpronomina)
Reflexive pronouns are used in two ways: 1. When the subject and the object are the same, e.g. He buys himself a sandwich every day. 2. To emphasize the subject, e.g. I’ll do it myself. Reflexivpronomina werden auf zweierlei Arten gebraucht: 1. Wenn Subjekt und Objekt dieselbe Person bezeichnen, z.B. He buys himself a sandwich every day. (“Er kauft sich jeden Tag ein Sandwich.”) 2. Um das Subjekt zu betonen, z.B. I’ll do it myself. (“Ich mache es selber.”)
myself – mich/mir yourself – dich/dir/sich (singular) himself – sich herself – sich itself – sich ourselves – uns yourselves – euch/sich (plural) themselves – sich
